What is trafficking?
Human trafficking is a serious and illegal crime that happens when people are forced, tricked, or pressured to work or perform sexual acts against their will with little to no pay. Human trafficking can happen anywhere and to anyone, regardless of age, sex, gender, race, or socioeconomic status.

Traffickers use many tactics to control victims, including threats, violence, lies, or manipulation.
Traffickers often:
-
Make false promises about love, financial help, or safety
-
Use fear, isolation, or control to keep people trapped
-
Take away identification, money, or access to help

Traffickers are not always strangers, in fact many victims are groomed by people they know and love.

I don't know what a healthy relationship is.
Understanding the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship can be confusing but everyone deserves a relationship that makes them feel safe, supported, and respected. Healthy relationships should lift you up, help you grow, and let you be yourself. Unhealthy relationships often involve control, fear, and manipulation causing harm over time.

Signs of a Healthy Relationship

-
Respect for Each Other's Boundaries: You both understand that it's important to have personal time and activities, and you support each other's independence.
-
Supporting Growth: Your partner encourages you to follow your dreams, spend time with loved ones and friends, and do things you enjoy—without trying to stop you or control you.
-
Open and Honest Communication: You feel safe and comfortable talking about your feelings, needs, and expressing things that are bothering you without fear of judgement, punishment, or ridicule.
-
Safety and Consent: You feel safe in your partner's presence, and there is no pressure to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable in any way. Consent is always given freely and can be revoked at any time. Just because you give consent for one thing does not mean you have given consent for anything else. Remember NO is a full sentence!
-
Mutual Respect in Conflict: When disagreements arise they are resolved calmly, with each person respecting the other's perspective, even when they disagree. Both partners are able to negotiate solutions without resorting to manipulation, or violence.
